Do you like Blogadollar’s new design?

Yesterday, I took the time to make a little redesign of Blogadollar. You can see the result now, it is cleaner and nicer in my opinion. I intend to add some images, just don’t know yet what images I’ll add. You’ll see them soon. The goal is to brand BlogaDollar a maximum and give it an unique original easy to remember and recognisable design.

The header, the logo
Instead of the big big logo taking all the place at the top, there’s now a smaller logo on the top-left hand corner of the header. The general look of the logo has not changed. I just reduced it with a little graph application called photofiltre that I particularly appreciate.

The sidebar is now blue
The main content, I mean the blog posts must be prominent and the first thing readers really notice after the header. Having previously a white sidebar did dilute the main content. Now the main content stands out and the sidebar is nicer.

The footer is still a problem
I tried to put the footer at the far bottom of the design. The problem is that for the moment, the footer is directly under the sidebar, thus on the right, not at the far bottom. And it is also half sized. It equals the sidebar width. I’ve got to fix it too. For the moment, I skipped putting any info or logo in the footer. What I imagined was a footer with the same logo as the header but at the far bottom, to definitely brand the design as “BlogaDollar.com”.

That way, each time readers land on Blogadollar, they see the logo first at the top, and then, when they arrive till the far bottom of the blog, they see the logo again. “BlogaDollar.com!!” And BAm! It’s printed in their memory.

It took more than 4 hours to do the redesign
I must admit I’ve been caught by the non-productive attitude again yesterday when doing this redesign. It was completely not the planning of the day. The day was just not planned anyway. I just started to make some little modifications here and there, and before I could think about it, I was making the entire redesign of BlogaDollar. I must say that it’s something I wanted to do since a few weeks now. And this new design layout, I had imagined it clearly in my head already. Ah! If only things could be done at the speed of thoughts! Don’t you think?
Perhaps my subconscious pushed me to do concretise the redesign without me even knowing. Sometimes it happens like that. When something is in your mind for a while, you finish by doing it even though you didn’t really planned to do it that precise day. And it took 4 hours +.

If only things could be done at the speed of thoughts!
No. It’s not because Johnchow Dot Com or Problogger Dot Net have recently made a redesign that I did mine too. Really, it was on my mind since a long time now. I already had this design clearly drawn in my head. Ah! If only things could be done at the speed of thoughts! What we could realise would just be phenomenal.
Well, I’m happy with the job and think that this blog design is more effective than the previous layout. I’ll add images too. What do you think of blogadollar’s new design?
