Daily Progression Real Life Case Study Blogging Actions
Don’t you hate that bad feeling of non-productivity?
What we’ve done up to now that is significant is submitting to the rss directories. They are starting to list blogadollar slowly everyday. That’s fine. But, you’ll see that I’ve made the error of the lazy guy today, or at least the guy that is not persistent and well-organised. And you’ll see today how to overcome that.
Today it’s sunday. I begin to work at 11:53 am. I’m supposed to work… But if you remember, I planned only my Rss submission action on a single page for easy implementation. Now that it is finished(submit’em now plugin’s 113 Dir is finished - I’ve got the RSSTop55 to finish), I did not plan the other actions on a single page. i.e: using social bookmarking sites / using social networking sites / submitting stories to web 2.0 story submission sites etc… I planned only my rss submission.
So, in my head, nothing else than the rss is clear. When I think “what should I continue to do now to promote blogadollar”, except Rss, I have a very confused idea of what to do. But at this time, it’s 12:20, I still don’t realize that I’m wasting time by not going back to my notebook and putting my next actions by theme on a single page for easy and quick implementation, like I did formerly with my “rss taking action” single page.
So, here are my guilty ramblings. Sure they will benefit me in a way or another, since nothing is never lost definitely, but it is not well organised and the non-productivity feeling is taking place cunningly.(=unpleasantly) . I’m sure you feel that often too. You do things one after another but seem to get nowhere.
Learn more about how to make technorati profitable
I Log in technorati. Surf it a little. Don’t know exactly where to go, what to do. Oh, I claimed my blog, and after emailling the customer service, they claimed my blog which was pending for review. Very fast: a few hours. Sites like technorati deserve a much more organised way to use them, and although I got some interesting ideas by surfing here a little, it’s never as productive as if I’ve put it on a single action themed page with exact tasks to complete one after another.
Checked paypal for received funds
Because a few minutes later, I’m already on another website, completely different theme. I login in my paypal account and check the funds I’ve received in the night while sleeping. I’m still amazed about this happening to me because I’ve read so much hype about it everywhere. You know: “make money while you sleep etc etc…”. Since I’m in France and my sales are made essentially in the US and foreign countries (UK/AUS/others), I actually really make money while I sleep due to the time shift difference. i.e: when it’s midnight in New-York, it’s the morning he in France. Or when we all sleep here in France, it is the afternoon in the USA. That’s whhy I make money while I sleep. Waking up and checking how much you’ve made in the night is a great feeling. More on that and my method later.
Had Fun with youtube
Then I’m already on another website, completely different theme, youtube, I’m having fun watching funny videos or watching movie clips… And this eats a lot of time, without you knowing it is already14:40. Ouh La! I did not even take the time to prepare and have lunch. 14:45 I stumble upon an article submission service, very interesting, I register, create article drectories accounts, try to use the service, have to wait 1-48 hours for the accounts to be created/activated, think that I’ve got to create at least 1 article and queue it… I watch the video tutorials and presentation of the service… 1 -2 -3 videos
Pleased to see live visitors on blogadollar
15:27 I notice on my home page that the who’s amung us widget indicates 7 people reading the blog at the moment. Then 8 then 6 then 5 then 4 after refreshing the page each time… As you can see, the actions I take today are really of different theme and are non very productive! They are not aimed toward a specific action that will produce mesurable and predictable results. I begin to feel that sensation of getting nowhere as time goes by today.
BREAK.
15:33 pm. I take a break. I wonder a break from what though, ’cause I really don’t know what I’m doing. It’s to tell you that the non-produtivity feeling is installing for good. It’s really unpleasant and tiring at the same time. Your head is spinning.
BACK TO BLOGGING/WORK
16:22 pm. Back to work. To work what I don’t know, but back to work anyway. (It’s to tell you!) amung us widget indicates 11 persons currently reading blogadollar. I wonder where they come from.Checking in google analytics is a good way to know.
First Realization of non-productivity
17:01 pm. I continued my ramblings. On many differents sites. Still related to blogging but really not well organised. 7:05 pm. I start to say to myself, go back to your notebooks and apply what you noted instead of messing around like this. Lova, you’ve got to be serious again!! Focus! Focus! Although I say that to myself, doing it is another story. You know, when you’re lazy since the beginning of the day with no clear directions set since the beginning, it’s hard to turn in serious mode suddenly, then, especially after hours and hours of tiring almost useless ramblings. Because at this point, your head is spinning, you’re more tired than a few hours ago etc etc… So turning in serious mode again is not simple after that.
Found an useful online tag generator and a file exchange service
17:09 pm. I found an online tag generator for icerocket + technorati + del.icio.us. Sorry I really can’t get ultimatetagwarrior work on my blog for the moment. A little too techie for me?(still rambling around thus) ntseu ntseu ntseu ntseu ntseu… Not serious today! Stumbled upon file-swap.com where you submit 1 file of yours and you get 1 random file in return (I think about making a little pdf report where I promote blogadollar and throw it there later. I wonder how effective this site is, but it sure has a viral potential. I’ll do it Later. You can try to do that to, since the site share your files for you. You only submit once)
Learn How to use Window movie maker
17:15 pm. I learn how to use windows movie maker. It’s very useful at compressing the file size of the video files. It outputs in .wmv format. I’m excited because I produce some of my videos and they take an eternity to upload to youtube or other video submission services. windows movie maker will help alot because it reduces the size of the videos, thus reducing the time to upload them, allowing to upload more on more sites too. I’ve just tested producing 1 video, the .wmv file is 7 mega octets only instead of 30Mo+ before. That’s Cool! I really like that. And windows movie maker allows you to add music, transitions, effects, narration, etc etc to your existing videos. In my case, they are essentially on-screen captured videos for the moment. windows movie maker is free, you should already have it installed on your computer with your windows system.
Take more action on article marketing
18:50 I remember that I started to register article directories accounts sooner in the day, so now I try to make an article template in order to write my first article to submit. Ouhchf! It’s not easy! Coming up with a well formatted and quality article to submit is not obvious when you’re just starting. :o) First I go register on ezinearticles.com[PR6] [Alexa 563], that powerful n°1 article submission site that google loves so much, and register my username and password.
19:00 my account is registered. Then I read their editorial guidelines, to know what is allowed and what is not allowed, there’s a lot of it and it is a must read, really. (quick tip: did you know that by linking to authority sites that google loves, you get loved by google too? That’s why I link to ezinearticles.com[PR6] [Alexa 563] here without the shadow of an hesitation). Guideline example, you can put only a total of 3 active or inactive links in the body of the article linking back to your site.(I think 3 is already great, don’t you?) and you must submit only informative articles and share your unique expertise: “Include tips, strategies, techniques, case-studies, analysis, opinions and commentary in your articles.” 19:02 I go on goarticles.com[PR5] [Alexa 4804] and register in the same manner.
It’s for sure: I’m not well organised today. Never again!…
and how to overcome that bad feeling.
20:20 Until now, I’m STILL UNORGANISED! I do this and that and this and that but I don’t see where it leads me. I really begin to be fed up with this lack of productivity. This day has really helped me to realize that I had to be stricter in my planning activity before even taking action. Taking action is great but first, your actions must be organised, themed, oriented to produce your expected results otherwise you will not see where your actions lead you and you’ll experience a catastrophic day like mine today. Ok, I exaggerate but really, it could be much more organised and productive than today, if everything is planned correctly. (i.e put a themed taking action on a single page like I did with my rss taking action single page, and then stick to it and until you finish it, track your results and progression. Then, do the same with each major taking action theme that you think about. That is more productive and allows easy no-brainer implementation of your actions.
Back to serious mode
20:44 pm. After all those ramblings and after realizing that this day has been catastrophically non-productive, although things have been realized anyway, I decide to get my “taking action notebook” and start building the single page dedicated to article submission. I lay down everything I’ve learned about article marketing on this single page and after that, BAM! I will act on it like a mad man!! So, I take my 5 notebooks, gather all about article marketing, lay it down on this single page, and in the coming days, I’ll have an exact roadmap to follow. In case you didn’t know, article marketing is fantastic because it allows you to build your reputation, spread the word about your blog, get linked back by 10s or 100s of sites when they put your article on their sites, attract traffic and build momentum…
BREAK
21:44 I take a break. Have you seen? It took me exactly 1 hour to build the single page about article marketing in my physical notebook and this will save me a lot of time, help me accomplish great results. I prepare and have dinner, and perso stuff. Phone call etc. :o) I’ve got a real offline life too. But I must admit I did not get out often these days.
Back To Work
22:44 pm. Back to work. Hey it’s true! Have you seen again. Exactly 1 hour after! I’m starting to note everything I’ve learned in puchased guides about social bookmarking again on a single page for easy future implementation and productivity. Social bookmarking sites are sites that allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorite’s list of your browser. (i.e blogmarks.net [PR6], del.icio.us [PR8], reddit.com [PR7]). They’re also great for Power[PR]Linkbuilding. You can find hundreds more high PR social bookmarking sites on blogmarketingtactics or on 3spot’list.
23:36 pm. I surf on 3spot’s bookmarking list for a few minutes to get used to the site navigation/architecture because this is definitely a site where I will come back often. You should too. 23:50 pm Not finished putting all about social bookmarking on a single page but I’m tired so I decide to stop and continue tomorrow. Tomorrow is already promising: will be more organised and productive, for good.
These are this Day’s achievements, anyway:
- Learn more about how to make technorati profitable
- Checked paypal for received funds
- Found an useful online tag generator and a file exchange service
- Learn How to use Windows movie maker
- Take more action on article marketing
- Know how to overcome bad organisation: theming your actions on a single page
- Start to theme article marketing taking actions AND social bookmarking taking actions on their own single page
- written this blog post thus adding more content to blogadollar again.
- Personal thought: I’m sure John chow or Darren Rowse or Courtney Tuttle or Shoemoney all have their solid organisation system
It took 3+1=4 hours, from 09:38 to 12:40 AND from 14:38 pm. to 15:31 to write, proof read, check, tag, and finally publish this blog post. I did not divide it in several posts today because I wanted it to be a 1day case study of non-productivity. Perhaps I will then make a post-response to this about a coming “very productive day” after I implement what I said here. I had to write this post! Absolutely. To make blogadollar a Real REAL-Life case study.
That’s all for today.
I hope you liked it.
Lova, from France.
